UPDATE 12/12/09: Thanks to The Mega Man Network, we’ve got more details. Head on over for all the details, as well as an image of another Robot Master known as Commando Man. The article also notes that there won’t be a female Robot Master this time around, obviously because Commando Man is emitting an excessive amount of manliness.
Well, it’s definitely not ground-breaking by any means, but after the lazy travesty that was Operate Shooting Star, it’s nice to have a Mega Man title to look forward to that isn’t going to suck… even if Capcom just did this exact same pseudo-1987 gaming experiment last year with Mega Man 9.
Nintendo Power unveiled Mega Man 10 in the latest issue, another upcoming WiiWare downloadable Mega Man game that mimics the classically nostalgic gameplay, graphical style, and chiptune musical score of its late 80’s/early 90’s NES brethren (arguably Mega Man’s peak in quality).
Details are scarce at the moment, but what we do know is a combination of awesome and just plain bizarre.
— 3 Playable Characters — Mega Man and Proto Man both return, and Proto will play the same as his MM9 counterpart, except you don’t have to purchase him now. (He’s available at the start of the game.) Capcom promises a third playable character, but no details on who it is yet. My money is on either Bass or Roll…
— New Robot Masters — Well, duh. Eight new robot masters to kill and steal their powers from, Sylar-style. The only one revealed thus far is… Sheep Man. Right.
— Easy Mode — Exactly what it sounds like.
— Possible Pretenses to X Series? — I doubt it, considering Capcom is more interested on plot-less fun with these sequels… But shall we speculate anyway? We’ve got a promotional pin-up, mimicking the horrendous U.S. box art of MM1 and MM2 just like MM9 did (except this one looks really cool). Centerfold, we got manly Mega and Proto… Who are looking an awful lot like X and Zero. And the storyline of this adventure? The two are looking for a vaccine to Robotenza… a robotic flu that causes robots to go out of control. Can you say “going Maverick?” And the whole “secret third playable character” is very reminiscent to a similar stunt Capcom pulled for Mega Man X7 with Axl’s unveiling… And finally, if you number the titles by Roman numerals like the older games used to, this one would be… Mega Man X.
‘Not sure when to expect this game yet since the Nintendo Power scan is missing a page or two, but I presume it’s going to be right around the corner. After all, Mega’s big 22nd birthday celebration is in about a week. Check out the Nintendo Power scan here.

Until we see the others…Sheep Man is probably going to be my favorite by terms of design…like Galaxy Man before him.
