Ol’ Dude-o-Proto is reporting that the upcoming most underwhelming RPG remake of all-time—Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star—is netting a measly 6.0 out of 10.0 points from Japanese mag Dorimaga. Some may consider that “above average,” but I don’t remember when 5.0 became average. When I was in grade school, a 60/100 was a D minus. When I was in high school, that was a high F.
Low F sounds more like it. They’re reprinting an 8-year-old GBA title on the far-superior DS with the faintest of bells and whistles added. Capcom, would you kill you to at least give us a C plus effort?
Maybe I’m biased, because I just finished what was probably the most impressive DS title to date, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. But come on, guys. The DS has amazing capabilities. It’s practically a portable Nintendo 64! And Nintendo demonstrated this when they launched the hardware with a vastly enhanced remake of Super Mario 64… four years ago.
But Capcom instead delivers us what looks like a fan-hack of a GBA title. They didn’t even update the screen resolution for the DS hardware.
It’s lazy, pathetic, dull, unforgivable, but goddammit, you know I’m going to buy it.
… but I’m not going to like it!
