REVIEW: 3D Dot Game Heroes – This is why I usually talk myself out of buying games… [REVISED]

For me, 3D Dot Game Heroes (herein known as 3DGH) was an investment of pure whim. It wasn’t until I saw some dot-composed heroes on my routine Mega Man blog-run that I had even heard of such a title. After some Wiki’ng, I learned what I needed to know. The game was supposed to be a gigantic homage to retro Nintendo games, particularly harking to the classic Legend of Zelda, with the added benefit of total character customization, and apparently it had been hyped-up for some time as the PS3 a...

Marvel VS Capcom 3 announced

It will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game console in 2011. Marvel VS Capcom 3 is Capcom's fifth installment in their versus series to feature Marvel characters, and the first to feature 3D graphics. Like its predecessor, it will feature a three-on-three tag-team based fighting system. Capcom has promised a robust storyline for the game. The soundtrack also boasts over 100 tracks, including rearrangements from previous MvC tunes, as well as new ones. (No more Ridge Racer so...

Nintendo announces the ‘Nintendo 3DS’

I guess 3-D gaming is the next big thing. I'm at least glad I never invested into the Nintendo DSi or the DS Lite... I'm still rocking the clunky original DS model, complete with sticky buttons from when I spilled red soda on it a few years back. Nintendo World Report... uhm, reports... In a surprise announcement, Nintendo Co., Ltd. released a brief teaser regarding their next portable system. Tentatively called the Nintendo 3DS, the system features three-dimensional gameplay without the n...

My thoughts on RE5 Gold Edition…

— Lost in Nightmares is so simply amazing that it's easier to list the few flaws it has, that being that it's too damn short, and that there's just not enough enemy combat. The scenario is only one SUB-chapter long (as opposed to an entire chapter of the main game), and it is broken up basically into two sections: above ground (inside the estate) and below ground (in the gruesome experimental dungeons and the sewers). Above ground is eery as fuck, and many of the rooms mimic the mansion in the f...

RE5 Gold Edition DLC – “Lost in Nightmares” + Costumes and More, Available on X-Box 360 Tomorrow, PS3 Thursday! (Updated)

Update - Capcom got it backwards and released Costume Pack 2 today instead of 1. So you get little-red-ridin'-Sheva and I-can-see-your-nipples-Chris today. (That's fine by me. I much enjoy Chris's nipples.) Resident Evil 5 is what I would call a system-seller. I had absolutely no interest whatsoever in owning an X-Box 360 or Playstation 3 until this game came gallivanting into their libraries. It was not only my first true next-generation gaming console (a category I exclude the Wii from)...

Weekly Onion Round-up 2/12

Let's do an early round-up to make up for being a day late last week. I got a little bit more fodder to work with this week... Or rather, less things that I have more to gab on about. — Music for Relief released 4 more tracks — The "Download to Donate to Haiti" album has been given four more tracks which can be downloaded, free of charge, at the Music for Relief website. This includes "Butterfly" by Weezer, "Slipstream" by The Crystal Method, "Gold Guns Girls" by Metric, and "Times Like These...

Weekly Onion Round-Up 2/7

Hello, my little onions. I'm a liar, a dirty liar. These are the eyes of a liar. Because I don't really have anything to round up this week. At least, not anything that would interest you in the smallest atom-sized bit. I've been a Mexican slave for the last few weeks, and I intend to continue such a routine. And why is that? Because Papa's got his eyes on some fancy new things. I need to pick the fruit of such labor. Such as the brand spank'n new computer I'm using at this very moment. Finally,...

Weekly Onion Round-Up 1/30

I can't say there's a tremendous amount that has interested me this week. It's probably from all the work I've continued to amass, and that the few remaining hours left unsold to my employer have been consumed by Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. Then again, maybe some things DID pique my interest, but the Bloody Marys coursing through my veins could be suppressing my short term memory at the moment. Regardless, I didn't want to miss my onion round-up on its one week inception-versary, so here's SOMETHING f...

Weekly Onion Round-Up 1/23

I haven't been writing a tremendous amount lately considering my 50-60 hour work weeks. (Hey, Papa needs a new computer.) For that, I do apologize. I wanted to start a sort of weekly wrap-up thing-a-ma-bob for quick little tidbits I've collected throughout the week (mostly gaming-related) that I find particularly interesting. I call it the "Weekly Onion Round-Up." For its debut however, everything is going to be fairly... outdated. So if any of this is old news (for, you know, the three peopl...
